Is The Trout Season Over?

Is The Trout Season Over?

The Driftless is one amazing place to fish for trout. With over 700 miles of fishable water it is easy to separate your self from others and explore the beautiful lime stone bluff and streams. With all of the streams being spring fed that means that they dont complete freeze. So with open water all winter long does that mean we can fish for trout? The answer is yes and no. October 15 was the last day to explore all of the streams in SE MN area, But thankfully there are designated areas to fish that are open year round for catch and release.  These areas include Lanesboro within the city limits, Forestville State Park, White Water State Park, Springvalley city limits, Preston city limits, Beaver Valley State Park and Rushford city limits. This means there is plenty of good water to fish all winter long!

Root River Rod Co will be open all winter long to supply you with the right flies and fly tying materials to get you through the cold. We are stocked with the best fishing gloves and outerwear to keep you warm.
