The Missing Link Caddis is another deadly pattern from the mind of Mike Mercer. Simply put, this is one caddis imitation that you do not want to be on the river without, and has been a one of our best dry flies on the Madison from June through August. It features a slim thread body with a midge flash rib, and a little bit of peacock black ice dub in the thorax. The splayed z-lon wings are tied in at an angle in order to imitate a fluttering or spent adult, and the deer hair tilt wing ensures that this pattern floats well and is highly visible on the water. If you have never fished a Missing Link you’ve been missing out on a lot of fish, so start stocking your boxes with one of the deadliest caddis dries on the planet.
